Evolution Simulator

About the game

The Evolution Simulator is a project that aims to visually demonstrate the basic principles of evolution. The simulation involves abstract creatures, referred to as "cars," that undergo natural selection. Each car has its own genome consisting of triads of numbers. The first triad indicates the number of edges, wheels, and width of the car. The following triads provide information about the edges and wheels, describing their characteristics. The simulation begins by creating cars with a random genome that drive through an abstract road. When a car is unable to move forward, it dies. Once all cars are dead, a new generation is created by mixing the genomes of two cars from the previous generation. The longer distance a car travels, the more offspring it will leave. Additionally, each new car's genome undergoes mutations with a given probability. This model of natural selection results in the creation of a car that can drive from the beginning to the end after several generations.

How to play

Click the Start button to start the simulation. Before starting, it is recommended to open the Information tab and read what is written there. Use the mouse or touch to rotate the camera. Use the buttons to switch between cars and control the simulation speed. Tired of it? Open the Settings tab and create a completely new simulation by changing the parameters of evolution, the world and the genome.
