How to play

To play, each player sets up their pieces on opposite ends of the board. The board consists of 64 squares arranged in an 8x8 grid. Pieces move in specific patterns: The king can move one square in any direction. The queen can move any number of squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Rooks move any number of squares horizontally or vertically. Bishops move any number of squares diagonally. Knights move in an "L" shape, two squares in one direction and one square perpendicular. Pawns move forward one square but capture diagonally. Special moves include castling, which involves moving the king and one rook simultaneously, and en passant, a pawn capture option. Players take turns moving one piece at a time, aiming to capture the opponent's pieces while protecting their own. The game ends when one player checkmates the opponent's king, resulting in victory. Stalemate occurs when a player has no legal moves but is not in check, resulting in a draw.
